Privacy policy
Last updated 2026-06-04
The Institute of Doctors is built privacy-first. This policy explains what we collect, how it is stored, and the choices you have. By using the website you agree to the practices described here.
Your results stay on your device by default
When you take a test, your results are stored locally in your own browser (using local storage on your device). They are not sent to our servers unless you choose to create an account and sync them. You can clear them at any time from your browser settings. Because they live on your device, results may be lost if you clear browser data or switch devices without syncing.
Account data
If you create an account or become a member, we process the data needed to run that account — such as your email address and authentication credentials — using Better Auth and our database provider. Members who opt in to sync have their saved results stored against their account so they are available across devices. We retain this data for as long as your account is active and delete it on request.
We do not sell your data
We never sell your personal data, and we never run advertising against your health information. We do not share your results with third parties for marketing. Limited processors (for example our hosting, database, and email providers) handle data only to operate the service, under contract.
AI processing
When you ask for an AI analysis of your results, the relevant result data is sent to our AI provider to generate that analysis. We send only what is needed for the analysis and do not attach your identity beyond what the feature requires. AI outputs are educational only — see our medical disclaimer.
Cookies & similar technologies
We use a small number of strictly necessary cookies and local storage entries to keep you signed in, remember your theme and language, and store your test results on your device. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data, and to object to or restrict certain processing. To exercise any of these rights, contact us and we will respond within the time required by applicable law.
Children
The Institute of Doctors is not directed at children and is not intended for use by anyone under 16 without the involvement of a parent or guardian.
Changes & contact
We may update this policy as the service evolves; material changes will be reflected by the "last updated" date above. For any privacy question or request, contact us at [email protected].
