Ce que ça mesure

This self-check explores the Enneagram of Personality — a model that organises human character into nine interconnected types, each defined by a core motivation, a basic fear, and a basic desire. Unlike trait-based models that measure how much of a quality you have, the Enneagram focuses on why you do what you do: the underlying emotional driver beneath your habitual patterns of thinking, feeling, and behaving. It is widely used in personal development, coaching, and organisational settings as a tool for self-awareness and growth.

Comment ça marche

You rate 27 first-person statements on a five-point scale from "Not at all like me" to "Very much like me". There are three statements for each of the nine types. Your answers are scored and normalised across all nine dimensions; the type with the highest score becomes your dominant Enneagram type. You may also notice a secondary type that scores nearly as high — this is often a wing (an adjacent type that colours your dominant type). The check takes around four to six minutes.

Conseils pour un résultat fiable

  • 1Your type is about motivation, not behaviourDifferent types can behave similarly for very different reasons. The value of the Enneagram lies in understanding the emotional logic beneath the surface — the fear that drives the coping style.
  • 2Wings add nuanceYour dominant type is often flavoured by one of the adjacent types on either side (its wings). For example, a Type 5 may lean towards Type 4 (more emotionally expressive) or Type 6 (more security-focused). Look at your second-highest score for a hint.
  • 3Stress and growth directions matterUnder stress, each type tends to take on the less healthy qualities of a specific other type; in growth, they move towards the healthier qualities of another. These directions are described in your result and are central to how the Enneagram is used in practice.
  • 4It may take time to find your typeMany people find that a short self-report does not fully capture their type, particularly if they are highly self-aware. Reading in-depth descriptions of your top two or three types — and noticing which one resonates most deeply — often clarifies the result.
  • 5The Enneagram is a map, not a labelYour type describes a pattern of motivation and coping — not a fixed identity. People grow, and the Enneagram is designed to support that growth. Avoid using your type as a way to limit yourself or excuse unhealthy patterns.
